I know that questions about setting up PPP abound on this forum so I
apologise in advance for asking.

I printed off the instructions found at 'http://www.awfulhack.org' (or on=
e
of
it's links) and followed the instructions for installing PPP.

I obtained the necessary details from my ISP (Compuserve) namely
2 DNS server IP's , the Domain name 'gateway.compuserve.com' (IP Address
unknown).

I setup and configured /etc/resolv.conf , /etc/hosts, and /etc/host.conf
then
modified /etc/rc.conf. Tested the tun device with 'ifconfig' all is well.=


Setup /etc/ppp/ppp.conf and /etc/ppp/ppp.linkup (copy attached).

The system dials out and CONNECT's then hangs with the line open
(judging by the modem lights). It is possible that the section 'provider:=
'
in /etc/ppp/ppp.conf is unsuitable for Compuserve so I tried doing things=

manually as described in 'man ppp' using 'term' but it still appears to
hang after connecting. ie it does not ask me 'login:' or anything elses !=
!

Any help appreciated !!
