Oy, sorry, didn't think that all the way through. Instead of 'mv' it 
should be 'cp,' then:
cd /usr/ports/devel/gettext
make clean ; make
pkg_delete gettext*
make install clean

THEN:

> /etc/rc.d/ldconfig start
