In what way were they unsuccessful?  Are you getting an error message,
like ``panic: can't mount root''?

OK.  Do you have a CDROm in this system, and if you do, what IDE channel
is it connected to?  If it's connected to your primary channel, swap the
second hard disk and CDROM, so the two hard drives are on the same
channel, then try it.

Don't worry too much about geometry, it's all fake anyway.
