Someone just committed a fix for select() with null timeval
in libc_r:

----------------------------
revision 1.11
date: 1999/08/20 21:06:20; author: alfred; state: Exp; lines: +5 -5
move sanity check of timeval struct so as not to segfault when passed
a null pointer.

It was merged into -stable roughly 1 hour later.
