A little follow-up:

I run gdm as a daemon from /etc/rc.local... also "who" works (mostly)
correctly:

bacchusrx@endymion ttyp1
[/dev] [10:45am] % who
root ttyv0 Mar 24 19:21
bacchusrx :1 Mar 24 19:21	(console)
bacchusrx :1 Mar 24 19:23	(console)
bacchusrx :1 Mar 24 19:25	(console)
bacchusrx :1 Mar 24 19:35	(console)

(I'm only logged in once on :1 but... meh) And users reports fine, as
well as last... (except 'last' says we're all on the console instead of
ttyv9 through 12 which are terms X runs on...)

However, w, uptime, etc all report that /dev:1: No such file or
directory.

Thanks,
Erik.
