I was experiencing similar symptoms a month or so ago... some searching
of the mailing list archives (search for erratic, mouse, jumpy, etc.)
gave me some ideas and i modified the psm line in my kernel conf to read...

device          psm0    at atkbdc? irq 12 flags 0x100

...and it hasn't given me any problems since. hope this helps!
