Since ~ yesterday my CURRENT system notifies as BETA1

# uname -a
FreeBSD pc028.nfv 8.0-BETA1 FreeBSD 8.0-BETA1 #0: Wed Jul  8 10:13:10 
CEST 2009     xxx@xxx.xxx:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/xxx  i386

If I remember right, than CURRENT (HEAD) remained untouched over the 
last releases and only changes to next version number (i.e. 7.0 towards 
8.0) when the next release was branched?
