I've seen something similar.  It would appear that either the window
manager or the tk program is grabbing the cursor.  When I kill both
and restart the window manager that I'm using, the system is usable
again.

I'm running 3.3.2 (elf) with -current from Dec 4, qvwm and wish 4.2.
However my late dec 5 kernel doesn't exhibit this behavior.
