I would expect the intent is to deliver a working install. My point is that
using portinstall did not produce that outcome ... following the
instructions at http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/ do. I just happen to like
portupgrade and portinstall.

Installing the xorg port did bring along a lot of old X friends, like twm
and xkill. I wonder if xorg-minimal would have sufficed?

As of last night I almost have the ndis driver for the built-in Intel 5100
wifi ready to test. It shows up in ifconfig, I just need to configure it. 

Not much joy watching YouTube, is gnash falling behind? Maybe it is just my
slow network connection.
