Have you skipped the actual configuration and build output here,
or was there really none?

If there was no configuration/build output at an earlier stage, then
things are somewhat mucked up, and nothing was built - so there is
nothing to be installed.

Can you try a 'make clean all && make install clean' in the same
directory (x11-toolkits/open-motif, I presume)?
