WANTED: Senior Systems Manager
LOCATION: Institute of Statistics and Decision Sciences (ISDS),
Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA
STARTING DATE: February 1, 2001
ISDS is seeking a talented and motivated individual to work as
departmental computer Senior Systems Manager in support of statistical
and computational research, teaching and administrative projects. The
principal responsibility of this position will be to maintain and
improve the ISDS network and computing environment, which currently
consists of about 50 Unix workstations (Unix-Tru64 on Compaq Alpha and
FreeBSD on Intel) and servers, a few Windows NT machines, and several
Cisco switches and networked postscript printers. Ongoing expansion
includes terabyte RAID disk systems and half-gigaflop computing
engines with gigabit ethernet connections for genomic research.
The Senior Systems Manager will be a member of the Arts and Sciences
Computing community, which shares ideas among peers and which
encourages, promotes, and facilitates professional development.
This full-time position is available beginning February 1, 2001, or as
soon as possible thereafter, with a full and attractive fringe benefits
package, and with continuing opportunities for career development and
professional advancement. Salary is negotiable and will be competitive.
