Reading the archives would reveal that this issue is a
bikeshed of the first order. Personally I prefer to use the actual
CVS tags or their names, RELENG_4 (Release Engineering Track - 4 or
thereabouts) which makes it clear that we are not dealing with any
kind of release.

I've said it before, but I think it bears repeating. It is an
impressive testimony to the quality of and care taken with the RELENG_*
development branches that they are often mistaken for tested releases.
Reflect for a moment on what it would take to produce a daily production
quality tested release snapshot. FreeBSD would need more test engineers
than Linux has advocates.

It is even more impressive that the top-of-the-tree (aka
-current) nearly always runs more reliably than some commercial
*releases*.
