running current as of yesterday on a thinkpd t41

picked up a sandisk cruzer 128mb usb disk stick. it
looks ok from winxp

plug it in,
the stick's led lights up
syslog sez

umass0: SanDisk Corporation Cruzer Mini, rev 2.00/1.04, addr 2
    da0 at umass-sim0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0
da0: <Generic STORAGE DEVICE 1.04> Removable Direct Access SCSI-0 device
    da0: 40.000MB/s transfers
    da0: 125MB (256000 512 byte sectors: 64H 32S/T 125C)

fdisk da0 either locks up or causes reboot with no disk
