Subject:   xset and key repeat speed

I've had no luck trying to work out the right xset options to change key
repeat speed. I'd've thought that xset r 45 or xset r 500 45 would do it,
but neither work.

marauder@juturna:~$ xset r 45    
marauder@juturna:~$ xset q
  auto repeat delay:  500    repeat rate:  5

marauder@juturna:~$ xset r 500 45
xset:  unknown option 500

What am I missing? :-)
