Not really.  The communicator is a network application, and it
references URLs when starting and when writing mail.  The references
when idle are probably the result of some underlying protocol
activity.

Not really.  It just describes your usage patterns.  Here's a brief
(36 seconds) dump of DNS activity on my system while writing this
message (and not using Netscrape):
