So are you saying that that I should type litterally:

cp freebsd.mc `hostname`.mc  (I had used neighborsunited.net.mc)

and then in my favorite editor, add the lines:

MASQUERADE_AS(`neighborsunited.net')dnl
FEATURE(masquerade_envelope)dnl

then litterally:

make
make install-cf CF=neighborsunited.net
sh /etc/rc.sendmail restart
