Thanks for the tip. I have added this to .mc:

MAILER_DEFINITIONS

T=DNS/RFC822/SMTP,
A=TCP $h 587
Created a mailer table:
example.com relay_port_587:example.com
And when I send to this domain, I get this in the maillog:
NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root): /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: line 1718: unknown
configuration line "relay_port_587, P=[IPC], F=mDFMuXa,
S=EnvFromSMTP/HdrFromSMTP, R=EnvToSMTP, E=\\r"
