argh! then you don't have it.
/usr/src/sys/i386/conf/GENERIC
recompile it:
# cp GENERIC mykernel
add the line:
options EXT2FS
to "mykernel" file
# config mykernel
# cd ../compile/mykernel
# make depend
# make
# make install
# reboot
