Actually one can link any darn thing they wish against GPL code. Modify the heck out of GPL code. And according to GPL, never be obliged to "share" or "give back to the community." Its very simple: you never release the work outside of your company. The terms of GPL only apply when *precompiled* code is *distributed*.
