The 'n' in "/dev/nrst0/" means do not rewind after command completion.
If you haven't done a tape operation that rewinds the tape between
the "tar -cvf" and the "tar -tvf", then the tape will be positioned
after the end of your tape archive.

You can either use the /dev/rst0 device to automatically rewind the
tape after the operation, or you can rewind the tape with the command
"mt -f /dev/rst0 rewind".  Note that even a "mt -f /dev/rst0 status"
should rewind the tape.
