At this time Xircom cards are NOT working on 4.0 systems. Warner says it's about 20 lines of code to get it working, but he's a bit swamped and has not gotten it done. It should work under 3.4-R and 3-STABLE, but you seem to always have to edit the pccard.conf file to give it a hard IRQ. I've found 9, 10, and 11 all work on my system. Most people use either 9 or 10. Don't forget to remove the IRQ you specify for the card from the list of available IRQs at the top of the file. Finally, if you are running on a laptop and want to stay abreast of the latest, you might subscribe to freebsd-mobil@freebsd.org. Of you want to stay with the latest and greatest for Xircom cards, go to the freebsd-xircom web page at http://ukug.uk.freebsd.org/~scott/xe_drv/. There you will find instructions for subscribing to the freebsd-xircom mailing list. (It's very low volume.) The author of the driver tends to respond to problems much more regularly than to when they are sent to questions. You will also find instruction for downloading and installing the driver. You can ignore these for 3.4-R and 3-STABLE. The driver is now included in the system. Just edit your config file as indicted and rebuild the kernel. You will also have to comment out the ze and zp devices as they conflict with the xe driver. (The kernel won't build until this is done.) R.
