The 4.6 kernel on each machine says

CPU: i486DX (486-class CPU)

&

CPU: AMD Enhanced Am486DX4 Write-Back (486-class CPU)
  Origin = "AuthenticAMD"  Id = 0x494  Stepping = 4
  Features=0x1<FPU>

The kernel detects the AMD in one of my boxes as a 486.
