Every few months to half a year. Dot releases (which are essentially bug
fixes, such as 2.1.7.1 or 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 come at a higher rate
sometimes). Browse http://www.freebsd.org/releases/ for the history of
FreeBSD releases.
