No releases do not contain SMP support at current.  There is a SMP project
at http://www.freebsd.org/~fsmp/ that you may want to look into.  I'm told
that they have a rather stable kernel now.  

To fix your memory problem, recompile your kernel with 'options
MAXMEM=262144' to get your memory recognized.
