Well, in spite of what it said when I installed the port, I *did* have
to run the setup program (/usr/local/StarOffice-3.1/setup) on my
machine.  It seems to me that I had the same problem you do.  After that
I was able to run swriter3, schart3, simage3, smath3, and scalc3 from an
xterm window.
