Hm.  Don't really have enough information to say for sure.

Do you know if it is an IDE/ATAPI interfaced drive (ie, it connects to the
hard disk controller or hard disk ribbon cable)?  

Is this during or after installation?

What have you done to set up the CDROM?  Did it work during installation?
If so, what did you configure, if anything?
