this solved the problem i had with umass devices on VIA controller.
works fine, thanks a lot!
the problem i hade is described in the followup to usb/81621
(http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=usb/81621)

the original submitter seems to have VIA controller too.
