Actually POP3 is an option. Apparently its not implemented?
Why don't you try the above (or have you?)

There are other services in Exchange that I have to do without.
Something like a bulletin board. Probably NNTP. Connecting to
our company servers as if they were regular news servers demands
authentication. My "domain" user name and password don't work.
