Jan, 

what level freebsd?  these also seem to work okay with 2.2.6 (?) and 
2.2.7 levels where the /stand/sysinstall --> mouse procedure prompts 
for "port" (set to ps/2) then enable, then test.  Then /dev/mouse 
also works.
