Good stuff!

How about:

4) Add the necessary stuff to the GENERIC kernel so that one can
boot from a standard install floppy and then do a network install
using any supported PC-CARD ethernet card.

Yes, I know there's a hack in the 3c589 driver that makes it work,
but the rest of us still have no choice but to use the PAO install
floppy.
