I think a channel for newbies would be a good idea because not all of us are true newbies (I'm a newbie to FreeBSD but I have had my own Linux system for over a year). I think that a channel could also be a extension of the mailing list where ppl can go and hang out together. Also It could be a place where we can learn from each other and if any one has a problem that some of us cannot help them with, we can direct the to someone/someplace who can.
