Hi Eugene,

PPP is actually comprised of 3 components:

-HDLC encapsulates your IP packets into frames so they can go over the
 link

-LCP establishes, configures, and tests the connection

-NCP allows you to send different type of packets e.g. IP packets, IPX
 packets, etc.
