} Below is a patch relative to Binutils 2.6 that adds new Pentium Pro
} instructions to the i386 instruction set.  Both the assembler and
} disassembler were updated.

This is very welcome news indeed.

} If I get time, I plan on updating GCC to do minimal P6 optimizations.
} (It really doesn't need much, but some things do help.)

Well, it needs something, so that it is not 40% slower than the
Intel reference compiler on the fastest P5s and P6s.
Maybe it isn't very complicated to put in the logic to do the proper
scheduling of fadd/fmul and fxch.

Still, great news.
