I'm in the same boat, with much different hardware (700 mhz p3 sony viao 
z505 laptop). I'm going to go back to RELENG_4_5 because this make 
coffee shop work impossible, but I really hope it gets fixed soon so I 
can use the new wi driver changes.

Bryan, have you tried Ian's patch (subsequent email)? I would, but I've 
got a deadline to meet very soon.
