OK, I have to tool off for possibly the rest of the weekend, maybe even
some of next week (not clear yet).

In the meantime, I'd like people (if they have a chance) to have a look
at a couple of things which may take their fancy.

In keeping with the title, and various discussions that have been
undertaken over the last year or so, please find in :

ftp://smith.net.au/FreeBSD/registry/

some first-cut code for a basic kernel parameter registry. Note that
the manpage is a little behind the current state of affairs, and
shockingly incomplete, but it outlines the design fairly clearly. I
hope to spend some more time on this very soon, as it is crucial to
the ongoing PCI/PnP/PCCARD debate, as well as countles other
parametric issues.

I would especially appreciate any suggestions for improving the speed
of lookup, as the component-by-component traversal is bound to be
inefficient.

And second, for those of you that like to actually read your mail,
I offer for your study and delectation the future of parallel-port
I/O on FreeBSD :

ftp://smith.net.au/ppa/ppbus-970730.tgz

At this point in time, the kit is operational but a shade messy. We'd
really appreciate any input that you might have before I get game
and risk the wrath of everyone by committing it.
