Isn't that what you're doing when you modify the 'kernel' line?  I'm not
familiar with kernel internals so don't get too technical :)

>From the Boot: prompt.  The bootblocks don't currently save any
information.  I believe this is changing, but you'd have to ask
hackers@freebsd.org.
