Check the permissions and/or the size of the file
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES/4.0-install.iso

Jordan is uploading an updated ISO image, and when he's done you should
be able to get the image from FTP.

It's a full copy of the 1st disk distributed by Walnut Creek.  I don't
exactly recall the exact contents right now, but you can use this image
to burn a disk.  Then you can install FreeBSD using that disk, it's all
you need to get going ;)
