Of course you can install FreeBSD without Partition Magic. FreeBSD has
its own partition and disklabel editor.

Actually i dont know if you can write the floppy image onto a cdrom but
you can download the mini iso (about 200 MB) for a cdrom installation.

http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/ is your friend if you're installing
FreeBSD for the first time.
