I don't think it's the FreeBSD site that's to blame. Then again, you never can know, do you? Are you sure you entered "#make install"? I'm asking because the #-character denotes a comment. If you have the CD just 'cp' (or copy) the file into the /usr/ports/distfiles directory. Then go to the actual ports directory and enter 'make install'. That way it won't have to fetch the file.
