I'll bet that the last time you tried this, you were upgrading to 3.1 or 3.2? You can't upgrade from 2.2.8 to 3-STABLE. You need to update your sources to 3.0-RELEASE and do a ``make upgrade''. Once your system is up to 3.1-RELEASE, you can update to 3.3-STABLE in the manner to which you're accustomed. Ciao, Sheldon.
