I'm not absolutely certain about this, and I'm not a firm
disbeliever in miracles, but I'm quite sure you'd have
to actually _type_ a command into your keyboard ... :-D

P.S. > My USR Modem is at /dev/cuaa0.  I found this
out by trying both "/dev/cuaa1" and "dev/cuaa0" in
etc/ppp/ppp.conf ... the one that worked was were
my modem was.
