The commercial vendors page has

    <URL:http://www.freebsd.org/commercial/software.html>;

    XVScan allows you to use your HP ScanJet scanner under FreeBSD. It is
    a commercial product based on John Bradley's xv.

I found this by going to <URL:http://www.freebsd.org/search.html>; and
searching the web pages for "scan".

Also, in the ports system there's

    Category graphics

    hpscan-1.0
    HP scanner driver.

    sane-0.65

which look like they could be useful. I found these by going to
<URL:http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/ports.cgi>; and searching for "scan".

Hope that helps,
