Hello, What you are describing might exactly be the problem. The Dell Bios might have been altered a bit or something. There are newer versions for the BIOS available as I saw on: http://ftp.us.dell.com/bios/ Would you be so kind to see if there is a newer version for your model, and whether flashing it to that bios might resolve the problem? Ofcourse read the instructions for flasing carefully!
