--/e2eDi0V/xtL+Mc8 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hello list, I'm in the process of trying to move a few dozen file servers to FreeBSD. = During this I've encountered something confusing with hesiod support. I'm = wondering if I should submit a PR for this: If you install pkg you can install the hesiod utilities with: pkg install hesiod Also, in the man page for nsswitch.conf it suggests that hesiod support is = included by default with: dns Internet Domain Name System. =E2=80=9Chosts=E2=80=9D and =E2=80= =98networks=E2=80=99 use IN class entries, all other databases use HS class (Hesiod) entries. With a proper hesiod.conf file on a system installed from either a 10.3 or = 11.0 release iso I get: # hesinfo rf passwd hesiod_resolve: hesiod name not found getent also fails: # getent passwd rf So I did some spelunking about the FreeBSD source tree and compiled a custo= m iso, adding WITH_HESIOD=3Dtrue to /etc/src.conf. After installing from t= his media it functions properly: # hesinfo rf passwd rf:x:12345:12345:Richard Feltstykket:/home/rf:/bin/bash # getent passwd rf rf:x:12345:12345:Richard Feltstykket:/home/rf:/bin/bash Is this a bug? Thanks!
