That error message actually looks like an explicit rejection -- you're
not running with authority (a magic cookie file in your directory), and
you didn't enter the command:

        xhost +localhost

(Or maybe _xhosts_, I never use it because I run with authority at work,
and I don't even use X at home ...  I use OS/2 PM and various Microsoft
OSes, and run FreeBSD on a headless server.)
