This is what I have for libc (which I think is pretty darn integral to 
your system): what does ls -l /usr/lib/libc.so* show?

lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel       9 Nov 22 23:04 /usr/lib/libc.so -> 
libc.so.4
-r--r--r--  1 root  wheel  578964 Nov 22 23:04 /usr/lib/libc.so.4
