Thanks for the response, but someone else has already informed me that
FreeBSD does not and will not support JDK 1.2 until the Blackdown source
code is released.  

Since there is already a JDK 1.2 version for Linux, I don't think my
question was out of line.  I was direct - trying to save bandwidth.  I was
curious why JDK 1.2 was not available, and why Java releases for FreeBSD
were lagging behind the Linux releases.  I received the answers I needed
within minutes of posting my questions - in a very professional manner, I
might add.  And, to the individuals who provided me with that information I
am grateful.
