Ah, right. Thanks Greg. Could you tell me why disklabel(8) (3.1-R)
returns 0 for fsize, bsize, bps/cpg and also gets the rpm wrong?.
Here's the output. The disk in question is an IBM Ultrastar 9ES
which is a 7200rpm device, but disklabel(8) reports 3600:

# /dev/rda1c:
type: SCSI
disk: da1s1
label:
flags:
bytes/sector: 512
sectors/track: 63
tracks/cylinder: 255
sectors/cylinder: 16065
cylinders: 554
sectors/unit: 8916012
rpm: 3600
interleave: 1
trackskew: 0
cylinderskew: 0
headswitch: 0 # milliseconds
track-to-track seek: 0	# milliseconds
drivedata: 0

8 partitions:
# size offset fstype [fsize bsize bps/cpg]
  c: 8916012 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 554*)
  e: 8916012 0 4.2BSD 0 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 554*)
