Do you have a WINS server on the network?  Since NetBIOS is a non routable
protocol, it will not pass through your firewall (unless you're bridging).
NT should be able to connect to device via IP if the server is doing
NetBIOS over IP.  Also, some servers (like Samba), filter connections
based on IP address.  Since the NT box moved behind the firewall, its IP
must have changed.  OSes like 95 and 98 can't make direct connections to
IP addresses, and require something like WINS to provide a browse list.
