Also, if you were mounting your DOS partitions from FreeBSD, you might want to stop that. The msdosfs has some known problems (one of which torches the FreeBSD partitions, even if the msdosfs is mounted read-only - it seems to get get triggered if you use FIPS to shrink a partition and/or it is a 63 sectors/track disk).
